An apology to Canadians of Greek origin would be appropriate at this time.
Montreal, 6 February 2008: In response to the recent cartoon that was published in the newspaper “The Gazette” on February 3, 2008 regarding a statement that was made by the Prime Minister in the House of Commons, the Canadian Hellenic Congress sent the following letter to the editor:
“Publishing Greg Perry’s caricature in the Sunday Gazette constitutes a racial slur. Surprising enough, no mention of the center of the controversy, namely the interests on whose behalf the individuals intervened, otherwise your paper would have certainly responded with letters or editorials of anti-something or rather!
An apology to Canadians of Greek origin would be appropriate at this time.
