Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is granting more than two dozen so-called “legacy” or “exit” interviews as she prepares to leave Washington and return to Stanford University. Among the traits both Mr. Bush and Dr. Rice share is a tendency to see the glass half full, to dwell on the positive which is clearly evident in the interviews.
“I’m so gratified that we are leaving a much better situation on Israeli-Palestinian issues than we found,” Rice said in her interview with CBS Radio News. Talking to the Associated Press about the war in Iraq, Rice started a very long answer with a reference to the ouster of Saddam Hussein: “The removal of a tyrant is a pretty big thing.”
These are rhetorical tactics and many people in high office resort to them but left unchallenged they obscure another side, namely that they’ve left behind a glass half empty.
CBS INTERVIEW WITH SEC. CONDOLEEZA RICE
Bet she”s glad she”s got tenure and a university job otherwise she”d end up like attorney general Bozo Gonzales….not able to get a job in the private sector…..the Bush administration a bunch of loosers and the worst President in our history. Why aren”t Bush & Rice medicated for their delusions? They should be hospitalized for their hallucinations!
What legacy? Are they kidding?
A neoconservative is one who attempts to support a failed administration in spite of all evidences to the contrary. It is a person who holds firm to party philosophies and tries to justify failure by any means possible. It is a person who, for example, continues to support Bush”s middle finger foreign policy while all thinking people have condemned it. They are also those who would claim, in the total absence of any evidences, that Rice was competent and achieved something during her time as Secretary of State. In short, a neocon lives outside of all reality and invents illusions instead of accepting facts. She”s as incompetent as Bush.
Let”s see. Here”s a woman who was National Security Advisor during 911 – when there was plenty of intelligence but she decided not to do anything with it. And then with all her wisdom that is supposed to come with a Ph.D., she was all behind the invasion of Iraq.
Now she call Israel and Palestine a better place? Is she awake? The only legacy this piece of work deserves is a prison cell – right next to Bush”s
At least Condoleezza Rice was only incompetent and not all that corrupt. The only corruption she was involved in was at the corporate level, like stealing oil from foreign nations and giving it to the big oil companies, diverting public funds to companies such as Halliburton and Blackwater, taking land from Palestinians and giving it to Israelis. The new Secretary of State will follow all those same agendas and add a whole new dimension. We will see secret private funds held in offshore bank accounts, White Water type investment schemes for International Charity Organisations, Chicago style favors for money scams and personal bribes. Hillary will do the favors and Bill will take the bribes. Hillary Clinton will add the new element of sleaze to Secretary of State. We will look back on the incompetence of Condo Rice as the good old days.
A senior foreign policy analyst who has known Rice for many years and who thought she would be really good in this job, is disappointed. “There is no purposefulness to her efforts. There is no follow up,” he says. “She is very talented, highly driven, but there is no follow through.” Rice and her supporters of course disagree with such assessments.Rice failed as NSA and as SecState miserably. Her role was exactly as Donald Trump described it. One photo-op after another. When she could have made a difference in regards to the invasion of Iraq and torture, she not only stood silent but concurred with the neocoms. I frankly do not understand how Standford faculty and student body can accept her back
shoes off to the bush regime, the decider administration has been given the boot by the collective Buster Brown brigade….Now put an egg in your shoe and beat it, monkey crew. Legacy my keister, more like Leprosy.
Sec. Rice has been nothing but a bald-faced liar over the past eight years. At a press conference in early December 2005, German Chancellor Merkel said Rice had admitted America’s role in abducting a Lebanese born German, Khaled el-Masri, and that it had been a mistake. Rice nodded and pledged that “when and if mistakes are made, we work very hard and as quickly as possible to rectify them.” After clearing German air-space, she denied any mistake saying she was confused about what Merkel was talking about. I guess she should’ve stopped nodding and spoken up. We”ve since discovered there were many other such ”mistakes” are still in Guantanamo. Other often asked questions: Tell us about the CIA rendition flights. (Rice) “The US doesn”t torture.” (Question) Tell us about the secret prison sites. (Rice) “The US doesn”t torture.” %u2013 But we were torturing people. “Sec. Rice made extra-legal rendition sound like just another form of extradition,” said Tom Malinowski, a Washington Human Rights Watch official. “it”s a form of kidnapping someone entirely outside the law.” Russia (failure), Israel-Palestine (failure), Darfur (failure), Iraq (gross failure), Afghanistan (gross failure), Pakistan (gross failure), Osama Bin-Laden (Historical Failure). The only success by Rice is that of monumental denial of the truth. She”s helped reduce the respectability of the United States to nothing, and nothing is precisely what we should thank her for.
Rice is a legend in her own… this story reads like a typical D.C. resume: lots of flowery words, zero accomplishments.
Someone who has watched her closely called her “the photo-op secretary of state who chased illusions and worked hard at it.” This person, who asked not to be identified, said “ninety percent of her events don’t produce anything.”
Gratefully, the rest of the world see”s Rice for what she really is. 9/11, two ill thought out and ill planned wars of forced occupation, let Osama get away at Bora Bora, Katrina disaster, asleep at the wheel in every major crisis, and she can not point to one single success in her time at State.
To paraphrase from a Knight”s Tale – “You have been measured, you have been tested and we have you unworthy of your self admiration!”
And the Legacy comments continue….
