Επί τρία χρόνια η κυβέρνηση της ΝΔ κρύβει το έγγραφο «φωτιά» του ΝΑΤΟ, που συντάχθηκε τον Αύγουστο του 2006 από το SHAPE, βάσει του οποίου για πρώτη φορά εγγράφως τίθενται εκτός ΝΑΤΟϊκού σχεδιασμού και χρηματοδότησης η Λήμνος καθώς και όλα τα υπόλοιπα νησιά του Αιγαίου, τα οποία βάσει Συνθηκών θεωρούνται αποστρατιωτικοποιημένα.
