Αξίζει να σημειωθεί ότι οι αγγλοεβραίοι τραπεζίτες Ρικάρντο (Ιωσήφ και Σαμψών), εμφανίσθηκαν πρόθυμοι να δανειοδοτήσουν τους Ελληνες, υπό την προϋπόθεση όμως, ότι θα λάμβαναν ως υποθήκη ολόκληρη την Κορινθία και θα εισέπρατταν ως εξόφληση, τα διπλάσια χρήματα απ’ όσα είχαν συγκεντρώσει ως φιλέλληνες από ολόκληρη την Ευρώπη.
